Progesterone Cream – How it Works2024-09-26T12:40:13+09:30

How it works

Duelle Balancing Cream works by using natural extracts from Wild Yam and Soy.

Duelle balancing cream regulates your oestrogen and progesterone levels. These are the hormones that balance your menstrual cycles, the peri-menopause and menopause. If you are experiencing symptoms related to your menstrual cycle, Perimenopause and Menopause, it is almost certainly due to the fact that your hormone levels are not right and are not in balance. Duelle balancing cream will help balance them so that your symptoms stop.

There are two main natural ingredients in Duelle Balancing Cream.

The first active ingredient is a natural Wild Yam extract and this will convert into progesterone, increasing your progesterone levels – as everyone gets older their progesterone levels decrease resulting in a multitude of different symptoms.

The second active ingredient is a natural soy extract that will either raise or lower your oestrogen levels, depending on what your body needs. How it does this is why this cream is so effective for multiple symptoms – it works with your different types of oestrogen receptors to regulate how intensely they work.

The Science

The 2 main active ingredients (isoflavones or ISOs) from soy are genistein and daidzein. They both bind to oestrogen receptors (ERs).

There are, in fact, 2 types of ER. A second type was discovered in 1996 and called ER beta (ERb) while the initial one is now called ER alpha (ERa).

This is important because we know that the 2 subtypes predominate in different tissues –

  • ERa predominates in the pituitary, kidney, epididymis and adrenals.
  • ERb in prostate, lung, brain and bone.

They are equally common in breast tissue, ovaries and uterus.

The reason this matters is because ERa or ERb, when present in the absence of the other, and responding to ISO binding – both exhibit oestrogen agonist (increasing) activity in the relevant tissue.

However, in the presence of ERa, ERb receptors (when responding to ISO binding) exhibit a strong oestrogen antagonist (decreasing) activity.

This is not true of pharmaceuticals.

In addition, studies show that, in the presence of high doses of oestradiol in the system (perimenopause), ISOs act as antagonists, weakening oestrogen action.

In contrast, at low doses of oestradiol in the system (menopause), ISOs exert weak oestrogen agonist activity, strengthening oestrogen action.

This means that supplementation with ISOs can, for example, exhibit strong oestrogen activity in bone and bone marrow to increase bone density, and in the brain to improve memory, balance, reaction time etc. AND AT THE SAME TIME, limit oestrogen activity in tissues with both ER subtypes, namely breast, uterus and ovary, which may reduce cancer risk in 80% of cases. (80% of breast cancers are oestrogen receptor positive).

This means we can create increased oestrogen activity exactly where we want it, and at exactly the right time, and decreased oestrogen activity exactly where we want it, and at exactly the right time.

Pharmaceuticals do not do this.

It should be noted that many studies have been done to try and achieve good blood levels of ISOs by adding soy or ISOs to the diet. None have shown any success at all. However, studies do show that absorption through the skin is much more effective, and it is possible to achieve much higher blood levels this way.

Why do some people feel worse before they get better?

When someone has a significant imbalance in their hormone levels, the specialised areas on their cell walls that respond to hormone levels (the receptor sites) begin to become much less sensitive (this is called down-regulating) so that the cell doesn’t react as strongly to the hormone levels.

This is exactly like the condition called “Insulin Resistance”, which leads to Type 2 diabetes. It would be reasonable to call this state “Oestrogen Resistance”.

Whenever someone starts to take steps to normalise their hormone imbalance, the FIRST thing that will happen is that the receptor sites on their cells will begin to become re-sensitised to oestrogen (up-regulating). This will make them more sensitive to their high oestrogen levels and temporarily worsen the way they feel.

This only happens when someone has a significant imbalance (meaning that this person has an important need to get their hormones balanced) and the symptom changes will lessen when the hormone levels come into balance. Hang in there.
